Cultural Exchange Day Unites Sterling Heights Families

February 2012, Sterling Heights, MI - On Friday February 3rd, 2012, Sterling Heights wowed the crowds at their annual Cultural Exchange event. Organized by the city of Sterling Heights and its Ethnic Community Committee, the event drew nearly 1,000 people to sample a variety of different foods, enjoy entertainment from Macedonia to Iraq, and learn about the city’s many cultures, cultural associations and performance groups. Welcoming Michigan also had a table to let folks know about our new local leadership committee and how residents can get involved. I’m from Macomb and my family has spent some time in Sterling Heights over the years -- growing up we loved going to the Sterling Heights library! So when they heard about the event of course my parents wanted to come. My mom loved the very young Indian dancers (“So cute!” she said) while my father couldn’t stop raving about the kung-fu demonstration. All in all it was a fun night for everyone and we are looking forward to attending again next year! Read news coverage here and see Sterling Heights TV coverage here.
