World Refugee Day Pinic 2012!

July 2012, Sterling Heights, MI - On Saturday July 21st Welcoming Michigan, Catholic Services of Macomb, Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services), Chaldean American Ladies of Charity, Chaldean Community Foundation, and Chaldean Outreach and Community Hope (COACH) came together to host a picnic in honor of World Refugee Day. This annual event is an opportunity to honor refugees and celebrate the many gifts they bring to our communities. Sterling Heights Welcoming Committee members volunteered to help show their support for their newest neighbors. Attendees enjoyed food and festivities, including dancing the dabke. Congressman Sander Levin stopped by to say: "Welcome, you are an important part of this nation." See more photos here.
