Detroit Welcoming Games

This year, the Welcoming Games will be a Futsal Tournament!

Futsal is an international form of indoor soccer played in all continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players. Also called Five-a-Side, teams of 5 play on a basketball sized court using rules similar to those of soccer with a few modifications (throw-ins become kick-ins, and off-sides doesn’t apply!). In celebration of diversity this Welcoming Week, we’re excited to join Metro Detroit’s small – yet growing – Futsal community in welcoming this exciting sport to the region and providing an opportunity for you to try it out!

WHERE: Clark Park, 1130 Clark Avenue, Detroit, MI 48209. Don’t know where Clark Park is? Click here for a map. You can enter off Clark Street and park in the lot to the west of the recreation center. Look for the outdoor skating/ice rink.

WHO: You! All ages and skill levels are welcome to join in the day’s activities. The tournament is friendly – so if you’ve never played futsal before, or even soccer, this is perfect opportunity for you! We invite everyone to participate – as a player, as a fan, or as a welcoming community member! Under 18 are encouraged to register for the youth futsal games.
