Global Great Lakes Initial Convening

Over the past four years, initiatives to promote immigration as an economic development opportunity have produced Global Detroit, Vibrant Pittsburgh, Global Cleveland, Welcome Dayton, Global Michigan, and Global Lansing and similar programs are emerging in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. Each of these initiatives seek to make their regions more appealing to immigrants by improving the quality of life and economic opportunities that exist in the region for immigrants as a tool to economic growth.

The Global Great Lakes Initial Convening is bringing these and other like minded individuals and groups together in the hopes of providing increased efficacy of the existing initiatives, access to capacity-building support for efforts in other Midwest cities and to increase the amplification of the needs and opportunities of Midwestern cities to inform the policy conversation on a regional and national level.

Join us Thursday June 6th from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law to learn and discuss how these immigrant initiatives can help move the regional economy forward.
